Current challenges and requests
In the body manufacturing process, a high-damping mastic sealer was required for roof applications to reduce road noise, rain noise, and cabin resonance, thereby improving overall vehicle quietness. During evaluation of various dispensing systems, the following challenges were identified.
- The high-viscosity material had to be applied quickly with sufficient thickness to fully fill the gap between the roof panel and reinforcement.
- As a high-performance, high-value material, precise dispensing was required to minimize material usage.
Solutions and merit when improved
The Mohno Dispenser 2NDM15G9 was adopted for its ability to dispense high-viscosity materials quickly at low pressure and with precise control over application thickness.
- The low-pressure dispensing capability enabled stable application with enough thickness to reliably fill gaps.
- Even with highly viscous material, the system maintained the same cycle time as conventional mastic sealers while also achieving greater application thickness.
- The dispenser's high repeatability also allowed precise application of only the required amount, significantly reducing material waste.
